GarageWorks began in early 2004 when The SteelWorks Corporation, the parent company at the time, started manufacturing perforated angles for a local garage door distribution company. This was a natural extension of the slotted angles that were sold nationally through hardware stores and big box retailers. Over the next two years, GarageWorks began manufacturing a variety of thicknesses and sizes of perforated angle.

With the sale of the “SteelWorks” name in January of 2006, GarageWorks became a standalone brand of Acme Manufacturing. At that time, GarageWorks began manufacturing strut, increased the sales team, expanded production and warehousing capabilities and began shipping nationally and internationally.

Over the past 10 years, GarageWorks has grown exponentially. Current customers include garage door manufacturers, OEMs, and large distributors, as well as many of the loyal customers who helped build the business.
