Organized in 1986, Acme Manufacturing Company has been operated by current ownership since 1992. Previously known as The SteelWorks Corporation, the company changed its name to Acme Manufacturing Company in January, 2006.
Since 1992, Acme has evolved into an organization comprised of several different businesses that manufacture and distribute a variety of metal products. Originally, The SteelWorks Corporation was exclusively a manufacturer and distributor of metal shapes for do-it-yourselfers to the retail hardware trade.
Today, Acme also manufactures perforated angle and struts for the garage door industry; lawn edging, stakes, staples and pins for the landscape industry; and threaded rod for the electrical supply, plumbing supply, maintenance, and fire sprinkler industries.
In 2001, Acme acquired Nostalgic Warehouse Co., Inc., a supplier of vintage-style door hardware to the “home restoration” market. As a complement to the restoration line, in 2005, Nostalgic Warehouse launched Grandeur, a high-end line of decorative door hardware targeted to the custom home builder.
In June of 2006, the company acquired Perfection Chain Products Co., Inc., of Vinemont, Alabama. Perfection Chain is a manufacturer of weldless chain used in a variety of applications in the electrical, plumbing, store fixtures and swingset industries.
Acme’s headquarters, administrative offices, and primary manufacturing and distribution facilities are located in a 140,000 sq. ft. facility at 4661 Monaco Street, Denver, Colorado. Nostalgic Warehouse, including Grandeur, operates out of an adjacent facility at 4609 Monaco Street, Denver, Colorado. Perfection Chain operates out of a 75,000 sq. ft. manufacturing/distribution facility in Vinemont, Alabama.
